During The Ellsworth initial construction phase, the developers aimed to deliver the finest internet experience for their residents. However, they recognized the difficulty in supplying high-speed internet to every apartment in the building because it is deemed historical. The urban location challenged traditional internet service providers to meet residents’ speed and reliability demands. Mixing historical structures with modern upgrades makes it a significant challenge to design the infrastructure for fiber optics. The developer, Rebars, wanted the best of the best amenities, including high–speed internet, to attract and retain young professionals, empty nesters, and a growing downtown workforce in Tippecanoe County
ORI emerged as the winning vendor among numerous competitors, securing the contract based on their outstanding services and competitive pricing. ORI collaborated closely with the developer to design the network infrastructure. The Ellsworth is a five-story, architecturally significant building with 97 modern apartments.
In order to ensure the meticulous installation of low-power wiring, the project manager and network engineer from ORI took the proactive step of collaborating with the builder and contractor before the construction process began. This early involvement allowed them to influence the construction design to accommodate the intricate wiring system necessary for a high-speed, reliable network.
The project’s scope was comprehensive, leaving no stone unturned in the mission to make The Ellsworth a paragon of digital connectivity. Every apartment unit was wired to receive high-speed internet. The common areas were noticed too. The project’s blueprint includes the elegant lobby, the indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge that offers panoramic views of the city, the state-of-the-art fitness center equipped with the latest machinery, and the media room designed for immersive entertainment experiences.
ORI planned to provide managed WiFi6 throughout the entire building to enhance the connectivity further. This cutting-edge technology would offer residents and guests a wireless connection that matches the speed and reliability of a wired one.
Alongside creating and deploying a cloud-managed system and switches, ORI was responsible for constructing a temporary WiFi network. This interim solution was designed to cater to guests and potential renters, ensuring they could enjoy high-speed internet during their visits.
The very lifeblood of the internet service at The Ellsworth is a 10Gb and 1Gb fiber Feed To The Unit (FTTU) system. This backbone ensures that every unit within the building enjoys high-speed, reliable internet connectivity, elevating The Ellsworth to the highest echelons of digital infrastructure in residential complexes.
Introducing residents to Ellsworth’s advanced fiber-optic network was executed flawlessly, resulting in a deficient number of trouble calls or issues, a remarkable achievement for a brand-new installation. The property-wide WiFi system was designed to offer each apartment a unique code for WiFi access. This ingenious design enabled the creation of a secure Private Area Network (PAN) for shared devices and Internet of Things (IoT) gadgets. Devices like Apple TVs, Roku, and Alexa could thus function effortlessly throughout the entire complex without compromising the security of residents’ information and devices.
After installing the fiber-optic network and the cutting-edge Wi-Fi6 routers, The Ellsworth Apartments rapidly ascended the ranks to become one of Downtown Lafayette, Indiana’s most desirable residential communities. The Ellsworth is one of the few buildings equipped with fiber optic and Managed WiFi. This unique selling point proved invaluable in attracting tenants, particularly those working remotely, who require reliable, high-speed internet access.
As a result, the community experienced a noticeable increase in occupancy rates. Tenants were drawn to The Ellsworth not just for its high-speed internet but also for its contemporary amenities, which together offer a lifestyle defined by comfort, convenience, and connectivity.
