Windows 95/98/ME Internet Access Installation Process
Step 1.
Double click on the “My Computer” icon. Then double click the “Dial-Up Networking” folder; this will open a window titled “Dial-Up Networking”. From this window you will double click the “Make New Connection” icon. In the “Type a name for the computer...” field type “On-Ramp Indiana”, and then click the “Next” button. In the “Telephone number “ field enter the dialup number assigned to you, and then click the “Next” button. Finally, click on the “Finish” button. This will take you back to the “Dial Up Networking” Window.
Step 2.
Using the right mouse button, click once on the “On-Ramp Indiana” icon. Chose “Properties” from the pull down menu. This will bring-up a window titled “On-Ramp Indiana”. Click the button marked “Server Type”, which will open a window titled “Server Types”. Here you should check only “Enable software compression”, and “TCP/IP”. Then click the “OK” button to return you to the “On-Ramp Indiana” window.
Step 3.
Right click on the “On-Ramp Indiana” icon and choose “Create Shortcut” from the pull-down menu. This will open a window titled “Shortcut”. Here you will need to click the button labeled “Yes”. This creates the icon that you will use to connect to On-Ramp Indiana.
Step 4.
Double click the “Shortcut to On-Ramp Indiana” icon on the desktop, which will open a “Connect To” window. Enter your username. Then Press the “TAB” key to move you to the password field. Enter your password and press return. This will connect you to On-Ramp Indiana. Now you are ready to explore the Internet, Chat with other people, or Send E-mail. Open Internet Explorer or Netscape to Surf the Net. Open Outlook Express or Netscape Mail to send and receive E-mail. Your mail Program will require you to setup the server configuration for On-Ramp Indiana. See below for setup instructions. Call 774-2100 for help setting up netscape browser and mail program.
